Meet Kristi Amrhein, RN, BSN
Saguaro Dermatology is excited to welcome Kristi Amrhein, RN, BSN to our team! Kristi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team. She is now seeing patients at our Ahwatukee and Mesa locations.
Saguaro Dermatology: Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona!
Saguaro Dermatology: And what led you to choose this profession?
During my teenage years, I faced a persistent battle with cystic acne, which led me to discover the transformative power of makeup. It wasn’t just about covering up my acne; it was about the confidence that makeup brought into my life, sparking a deep passion for cosmetology. Although I considered a career as a cosmetologist, something held me back.
After a decade of minimal improvement, I decided to undergo a rigorous Accutane treatment, which finally provided the results I had been longing for. With my dermatologist’s clearance, I turned to microneedling to address the lingering acne scars. The remarkable improvement in my skin and the relationships I built with my providers introduced me to the world of aesthetic nursing. It was then that I knew this was the career path I wanted to pursue.
My journey led me to nursing school, where I earned my bachelor’s degree and honed my skills in the Neurology & Telemetry unit of a hospital. With valuable bedside experience under my belt, I finally embraced my passion by enrolling in a Botox and Dermal Filler training course. Shadowing experts in the field deepened my knowledge, and I was soon offered a nursing position, where hands-on training with clinical experts shaped me into the nurse I am today.
My passion for helping others feel confident in their skin forms the foundation of my patient care approach. I am driven by a thirst for knowledge and a commitment to becoming the best injector I can be. Educating patients on achieving healthy skin is a core part of my mission, as I believe the health of our skin goes beyond neurotoxins and fillers. This dedication is what led me to Saguaro Dermatology, where I am eager to learn, grow, and provide exceptional support to help patients achieve their skincare goals.
Saguaro Dermatology: What do you find most satisfying about your work each day?
I am passionate about educating patients on the natural aging process, reassuring them that the changes they notice are normal and that they are not alone. It’s incredibly rewarding to see patients trust the process and witness the positive results of their treatments. I emphasize that skin transformation is a journey, not an overnight change. Those who embrace this understanding and value the education and recommendations we provide are the ones who achieve the best results.
Saguaro Dermatology: As an Aesthetic Nurse what do you want your clients to know about their skin?
Skin health is a lifelong journey, not just a one-time treatment. Damage to the skin accumulates over the years, making it essential to approach skin care as an ongoing process. Prevention, correction, and maintenance each require tailored strategies that are unique to your needs. To achieve the best results, in-office treatments should be complemented by a consistent, high-quality at-home skincare routine.
Saguaro Dermatology: What part of your daily skin routine do you NEVER skip?
I always double cleanse my face, ensuring each cleanse lasts for a full 60 seconds. The first cleanse removes the day’s buildup—products, sunscreen, and makeup. The second cleanse goes deeper, clearing debris from the pores, which helps prevent blackheads, brightens the skin, and allows other skincare products to absorb more effectively.
Saguaro Dermatology: And your favorite skin care product?
Lately, I’ve been really enjoying the Vivier Hexam Gentle Cleanser, and I’m also a big fan of the Alastin Hydratint Sunscreen.
Saguaro Dermatology: What do you like to do outside of work?
I love spending time in my garden—always with sunscreen, a wide-brim hat, and an umbrella, of course! I also enjoy thrifting and organizing.
